My body, my rules; informed and in-charge
Welcome to The Women's Health Cafe, your leading women's virtual wellness center in Kenya and a supportive community for women navigating every stage of their reproductive health journey. We provide holistic women's health support through expert guidance, empowering resources, and a safe space for connection.
Two years ago, The M Factor 1 opened vital conversations about post-menopause, empowering countless women with knowledge and shared experiences. Now, we’re delving into a phase that is often the most bewildering, unpredictable, and frankly, chaotic - PERIMENOPAUSE
Perimenopause is the significant transitional period leading up to menopause, marked by hormonal fluctuations that can bring a cascade of symptoms – from disruptive mood swings and anxiety to brain fog, unpredictable cycles, sleep disturbances, and a range of other physical changes. It’s a journey that can leave women feeling lost, isolated, and questioning their own bodies.
The M Factor 2 courageously shines a light on this pivotal stage, offering insights, expert perspectives, and most importantly, validation for those navigating its complexities. This powerful film acknowledges the challenges while empowering you with the understanding needed to embrace this transformative phase with confidence.
Join us at the Women's Health Cafe for an exclusive screening and a crucial conversation. It's time to demystify perimenopause, share experiences, and equip ourselves with the tools to move from confusion to clarity.
"She noted that many cultural insensitivities stemmed from a lack of knowledge about Africa...". This book is a vital step in filling that gap and honoring traditional wisdom.
We are honored to bring "A Tapestry of Menopause Among Traditional Agīküyü Women" to our collection. In this narrative study, Dr. Wanjiru J. Kamau explores the intersection of culture, tradition, and the lived experiences of Agīküyü women.
Dr. Kamau’s career is a testament to a lifelong commitment to education and cultural advocacy. Before moving to the U.S. in 1988, she served as the Assistant Dean of Students and a sociology teacher at the University of Nairobi. She later earned her doctorate in psychological counseling from Penn State University, where she became a specialist in multicultural education and served as a Senior Diversity Analyst.
Her expertise in bridging cultural gaps—previously recognized by the University of Maryland, where she was appointed as a Visiting Scholar—shines through in this deep dive into African traditions and womanhood.
